Prelude to Socorro Adventure

The key to a healthy body is sweat!

I have not been sweating for months because of the winter season. Now that it is summer, I am beginning to feel it!

... especially here in Socorro, NM!

We drove today for 3 hours from Gallup because I will be attending a course in Physics!

The whole family joined me since we were given free housing for the week. But, my, my, my! it is sooooo hot!!!

It is now 10:40pm and still I am sweating.. and all I am doing is browsing the internet and Facebook!

Major why? they are using swamp coolers in the university, and I think the pump installed in our apartment is broken! Great!

Everyone's asleep though, because we all took a bath and felt refreshed. Thanks to the fan and the opened windows!

It's 5 days of "I-don't-know-what-is-in-store-for-me-in-the-course" I did not even teach this school year and definitely not Physics!

Oh well, excitement is in the air! Lol!

So, for the next 5 days, I'll be updating you all with our happenings here in Socorro, New Mexico.

For the mean time, I sleep.

NAMASTE.

P.S. .. and YES, Sweat is Health is Wealth! - so All is well! I am embracing sweat! Lol!

-day 187

Games in our Minds

Since daddy worked abroad we were blessed with high technology toys and gadgets growing up.

I just remembered because every time I would drive and need to cross roads, my mind would automatically switch to game mode! Lol!

You see, I used to love this Chicken Crossing The Road Game using ATARI then. I would control the chicken's movement so it wouldn't get killed while crossing, the chicken needs to walk past 4 lanes to get a score -mmm, to get the worm at the other side!

So,  just to make a connection, it could be that when we are constantly faced with the same challenges everyday, even via online games, we also subconsciously get to actualize it. It no longer matters if it's just a game or the real thing, we react the same to it!

The point is REPETITION, VISUALIZATION and MIND CONDITIONING may actually work especially in achieving our goals or achieving our dreams.

What do you really want? If, say, we really want to become a millionaire... then we may set up situations where in we could become one. Train our minds to act, to see, to talk, to walk, to speak, to hear, to listen, to move like one.. and then maybe it could happen, in time.

If we want to build our own business someday and become a business tycoon, there are online games available which may prepare us to become one!

A good experiment, but see, it is more on training of our minds to THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX and right here, right now, experience life like we wanted it.

Scary too, because many people want to play war games.. I mean, what are we training our minds into? - killing? destroying?, it may just be a game but it's like programming our minds to something bigger.

Who knows, it may not just be a game or illusion, but our own reality.  (At least in specific areas, in our minds!)

I hope I make sense!  Lol!

Loving Basketball Again!

It started the night of Pacquiao and Bradley's boxing fight!

A group was cheering on a basketball game.

I have not watched BASKETBALL in yearssss! True!!! (I think the last time was in high school! Lol!)

So, I asked about it and remembered hearing about a Filipino-American coach leading Miami Heat basketball team. I instantly cheered for them - JUST BECAUSE Eric is a Filipino.. race connection! Lol! Miami Heat won vs Boston Celtics.

From then on, the same group of basketball followers would gather from one house to another to watch the finals - Oklahoma Thunders vs Miami Heat, from games 1 to 5.

It was hilarious since the group has both OKC and Heat followers. We were dancing the chicken dance, chanting "an-na lang" (I think it means, that's the way to do it.. just like that!), shouts of "shooooot", raising of arms and major clapping!

It was a gathering of great minds! Lol! since we talked about ideas Lol!, we ate (pot luck every time) and just enjoyed raising our voices together and part-time shouting quietly! Lol!

Thanks NBA Miami Heat and Thunders for making part of our summer memorable!

This man's soooo good too! Kevin Durant of OKC Thunders. You've a long way to go!

CONGRATULATIONS MIAMI HEAT!

365 Project: HALFWAY done!

I started this 365 days project of writing last December 12, 2011. Who would have guessed I am halfway done? This is my 182nd day already!!!
Here's an excerpt from my 365 days project post.
I've always wanted to write everyday...
One day at a time... one story at a time.. for 365 days.
I hope that you'd join me as I write my her heart out...
Stories of my life. Stories to share. Stories to learn about. stories to read.
Positive that as I uncover mysteries of life in its simplicity and beauty, YOU will also be able to relate, find common things, learn, unlearn, undo, redo, own, justify, correct, metamorphose, change… life as it is.

Did I religiously write everyday? No, it is hard! Sometimes, I just don't know what to write! But I try to compensate days I haven't written so I could catch up with the project. I just need to think outside of the box to it happen!

What have I learned so far? I've learned all the more, how powerful our minds could get. How powerful our thoughts are! Sometimes, I find myself declaring things and it would happen!!!

One time, I told my husband, I'll get a fever (he's got one, I still feel well that time, and just blurted that out) - it happened!

I just have to watch my thoughts and the words that are coming out my mouth - they are all very powerful and life changing!

In the same passion, I am training my mind to say I am rich, I am financially independent, all my dreams are coming true, I am healthy and wise!

Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you" - Matthew 9:29

.. and so it is. The journey continues...

NAMASTE.

Happy Dad's Day Popai!

To the father of my children,
my very unique, supportive and all-around husband

Happy Father's Day!!!!
Popai :))

Daddy's Girl!

Dearest Daddy,

I know I am your little girl, Lol! Not little anymore, but in your heart I will always be right? Growing up you were always calling out my name.. always looking for me! I guess, I always seemed to have my own agenda Lol!

I remember when I failed to recognize you when you decided to come home to surprise us. I opened the door, and asked who you were. You looked different, you just came from Saudi Arabia with all the beard and mustache! Lol! I think I burst into tears knowing what I just did! Lol!

Daddy, I just want to thank you for all the sacrifices you have done to our family. Thank you for the many years that you have been an OFW just to support our studies. Education, you and mommy would always say is the only inheritance you could give us and it won't be taken away from us. Thank you for the gift of education.

I was able to study in Manila because of your trust, confidence and belief in me. Thank you. Thank you for the many opportunities that you have given me and my brothers to achieve our dreams and goals in life. We would never have achieved so much if not because of you and mommy's support, unconditional love and trust.

I love being your girl, well, you have no choice, since I am your only daughter! Mmm, not anymore, because I've got sisters-in-law already! Lol.

There are more dreams to conquer, more goals to achieve, more wishes to come true! Let's hold on to that! Happy Father's Day! You are heaven-sent!

We love you Daddy!!!

Love and Kisses,

Overspeeding!!!

While driving, a police car passed me by, turned around and followed me. I slowed down.

It gave a warning for me to stop. I did.

I was running a lot of excuses in my mind but decided to put it all aside. I prayed instead - Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.

A police women came. "Hi!"

I said, "Hello!"

"Ok", she said, "I pulled you over, because you were running at 60mph in a 45 lane".

I said "I'm sorry".

She said "Now do you have driver's license, registration and insurance?"

I said, "Yes".

There was a pause (Oh, I guess, this was the time when I should have given her everything already), she repeated, "So, you do have your driver's license, registration and insurance?"

I said, "Yes", and took out my driver's license.

She took it, and said, "so you've never been stopped before?"

I said, "No, so it was 60mph really?"

She said "Yes".

I proceeded to get the pile of papers to look for the car's registration and insurance.

I said, "I'm sorry, but I have to look for it", and continued searching for the registration.

She said, "Ok, just hang on for a minute ok?"

I said, "Yes" as I flipped through the papers.

I can't find it!!! But continued with my search.

She came back, "Here's your driver's license"

I took it, puzzled. "So, you won't give me ticket?"

She said, "No, no ticket. Next time, just run at 45mph ok?"

I said, "Yes!, thank you so much!" "Have a safe day!"

I said, "Thank you, you too!"

Reflections!
1. When a police car pulled you over, PRAY!
2. Follow my husband! He had fun saying "I told you so!!!" too many times when I told him what just happened!
3. I think it also helped that there was a delay in finding the registration and insurance card!
4. It was 12 noon and I guess, the timing, also helped too!
5. Maybe the police woman took pity on me, since I can barely speak (I've got cough and colds!)

Bottom Line!
Follow the road signs!!!
or I may not get lucky next time!

But then, it is worthy to know that there are attorneys dedicated in defending persons charged with reckless driving, DUI, speeding tickets, hit and run, eluding, and other traffic crimes and violations. Check it out here www.ChuckerReibach.com.

They have the focus and experience in reckless driving law (firm in Richmond Virginia)  and it enabled them to build a high success rate of dismissed or reduced charges for their clients.

Nice huh?

NAMASTE.

P.S. Just learned that it could have cost $180.00 for the ticket! whoa! Thank God for no ticket!

Boxing and Manny

If there is one sport that I watch, it is BOXING, and only because of MANNY PACQUIAO

I may not be very well-versed with the rules and regulations of the sport, but I know the judges gave WEIRD RESULTS during the Pacquiao-Bradley game last Saturday (June 9, 2012).

Now, it is causing people to react and wanting to do something about the BOXING system in officiating, judging, and refereeing.

If you are a BOXING FAN, please sign the petition to make a change!

Let's make a difference!

Results

At the end of each day, you should play back the tapes of your performance. The results should either applaud you or prod you.
The greatest form of maturity is at harvest time. This is when we must learn how to reap without complaint if the amounts are small and how to reap without apology if the amounts are big.
Life asks us to make measurable progress in reasonable time. That's why they make those fourth grade chairs so small—so you won't fit in them at age 25!
There are some things you don't have to know how it works, only that it works. While some people are studying the roots, others are picking the fruit. It just depends on which end of this you want to get in on.

The Cash Challenge

I don't carry cash anymore! It's been 5 years since budgeting in cash.

I remember being a student and getting an allowance! Lucky students, huh?

In high school, I'd make sure to budget my money so it would last a day. In college, I'd make sure to budget my money so it would last for two weeks!

When I started working and earning, I'd budget my hard-earned money to last me for a month!

Coming here, I don't have cash! It's all plastic for me now. So, I end up just swiping and swiping! The amount I have to pay are just numbers in the receipt.

I have no sense of losing money until I check online and see my balance running out!

This summer, I plan on going to my bank and withdrawing cash money. Set a weekly budget in cash and spend just that! - well, this will just be on food. Let's start with that.

If I start at $70 a week, that should last for a week, 7 days! If anything's left, I'd simply withdraw some and make it total $70 again for the following week. I am not sure how it will work out. Not even sure if it is enough.

No, let me rephrase that, $70 a week is enough cash for 7 days! It will be spent wisely. It will work out for a family of 4.

Let me take the cash challenge!

P.S. All doors are closed for 10 weeks! LOL!

NAMASTE.

Love the Opportunity!

Get the comptetive advantage in business and in life.

Love the Opportunity

by Jim Rohn

Somebody said you have to love what you do, but that's not necessarily true. What is true is that you have to love the opportunity. The opportunity to build life, future, health, success and fortune. Knocking on someone's door or making that extra call may not be something you love to do, but you love the opportunity of what might be behind that door or call.
Get the comptetive advantage in business and in life.

So, before you are tempted to give up or get discouraged, remember all success is based on long term commitment, faith, discipline, attitude and a few stepping stones along the way. You might not like the stone you are on right now, but it's sure to be one of the stones that lead to great opportunities in the future.

On Cars and Driving!

Prior to the opportunity of being interviewed by an employer here in the US... I have been dreaming often of driving.. and the fear that comes with it!

I have never driven anything in my life, except bicycles and bump cars when I was young.. I was never car-literate too! No idea about the styles, brands of car, what's in and new, much more auto parts!

My father would often tell me he would teach me how to drive once I get to have my car already.. well, given that.. I knew it means not in the near future hehe..

BUT since we were told that we will be needing an international license here, he taught me how to drive(manual)! and the first time.. yes, you guessed it right! - I broke his car! in just 15 minutes of being in his car it broke! hehe

Thanks to the patience of my brother Dondon he was the one who continued teaching me so after like 6 hours all in all for like 5 days I get to run the car around the subdivision on my own for 30 minutes hehe.. :)

With that gained confidence, I persisted my father to allow me to drive in the highway but he wouldn't as we would leave the country soon..

Now.. Unlike in the Philippines when we can simply "pay" and viola! -driver's license! here, NO NO NO.. Louisiana law requires us to pass an eye test, written exam and road test..

Thanks this time to the Filipino Community of New Orleans: Art, Tita Lina, Tina, Father Roel, Father Nilo and Father Kiko for generously teaching and allowing us to use their automatic cars for us to learn how to drive, park and back up! (Now, I have forgotten how to drive manually! hehe)

Results:
I get to pass my written exam...

The roadtest.. what do you think? hehe

The DMV official tested me in the highway where I need to signal every now and then because I need to change lanes!(but of course right? hehe) The story behind was: It is my first time ever do that!!

(guess our tutors were afraid as well - so we remained in residential areas! more so because we have not gotten our student permit! :)

I was sweating but after a while got the hang of it.. as if I know what I was doing hehehe... at 40mph I would let go of the gas so it would move down to 30mph to 25 mph! and I was in the highway!!

I was using the center lane when I was asked to turn left - dangerous move! but i did park, back up and stop when I am supposed too well.. Good practice eh? hehehehe

I still felt fulfilled after that.. because I was able to do what I did safely.. They gave me a driver's license with restrictions -I can only drive with a licensed driver with me..:)

Practice makes perfect, builds confidence too right?.. So, in like after 5 trials and errors and failed tests, I got my license in my 6th try!

Whoa! Ride with me? LOL!
