WEFTA celebrates World Water Day at the Railyard

Here are our own documentation of the said event.

I hope the photos and videos will speak a thousand words!

We were at the event site at 4pm, and found the interesting set-up. There were not as many participants when we stepped in. My family and I roamed around the place as I took photos of their banners and designs.

They also have an art booth for kids.

While looking around I had a hint that the event is something Santa Fe Water Festival is very passionate about. I surmised that water in this container will mean something later.

This is the centerpiece. While doing some research prior to coming to this event. I know that this is a water wheel.

Water Wheels (a Native American-based medicine wheel for the waters) - it is linked together for the purpose of energizing, honoring, celebrating, loving, and thanking the Spirit of water.

People gathered around this wheel to show respect and love and to deepen the relationship with the Spirit of water and Mother Earth.

See more information here: http://www.waterwheelceremony.com/p/water-wheels.html

True enough, to begin the ceremony all participants were asked to form a big circle around the medicine water wheel. Then, the opening ceremony began.

prayers and offerings

There were dancing and humming. We were even asked to close our eyes as we listen to someone lead us into prayer. (I wasn't able to capture all in camera).

After the interesting, moving and ritual opening ceremony, we went to this make-shift presentation room to listen to different topics on water, including promotion of crystallized water; composting, waste water and proposed bio-park community.

(after the presentation, I found the correct way of making the photos clearer!!!)

While my husband, Mymy and I were watching the presentations, Mimoi was mostly in the kids' booth working on his craft.

Here are Mimoi's output on working in the kids' booth!

My family being silly.

We left the event with more respect on water.

Information is also posted frequently on FaceBook on the Santa Fe Water Awareness Group page https://www.facebook.com/sfwag
