I met an Atheist!

"C'mon Maria, there is no God!

I'm an Atheist. I don't go to church. There is no God!"

For the first time, in my entire life, I met an Atheist, in person!

I said, how can you not believe in God? There is life, life is God. Yes, he said, if life is God then I believe it, but not God, who is supreme power and directs our lives...

Just like Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy or God. There is no God. There is no Santa Claus. There is no Tooth Fairy.

He said, I'm not a bad person, I do my best. I give my all. I do what is necessary. I make things happen. But I don't believe in God. I don't have any church. I don't belong to any group.

He is a good person. He does his best, he is a kind man. He makes things happen and helps make the world a better place for him and the people around him.

Does it matter now, to me, what he does not believe in?

Will it matter now, to you, what he does not believe in?

Will I try to force him into making him believe there is one? To just prove my point? To let him know I am right? To make him realize I have all the answers? To judge he is wronged?

I say RESPECT.

I believe in God. He does not.

Period.

Summer Siesta!

Do you know what I like about summer time?

1. It's being able to sleep late,
wake up late, and sleep after lunch time - "siesta".

2. It's being able to choose not to do anything!

I just love it!

Taking SIESTA or POWER NAPPING after lunch is beneficial too!

S - strengthens our heart
I - ignites our learning
E - energizes our body
S - sparks our brain
T - tames our tongue (lol)
A - antidote to stress

Sad thing is we can't do this while at work
(unless you lock yourself in a room, or rest room, and
make sure nobody sees you!).

Great thing is now I have the whole summer to do it! :))

Yay for summer!

To Camp or not to camp!

I signed up on a 10-day all expenses paid camping trip to study Survey of Geology. We are to travel and camp at New Mexico, Utah, Arizona and Colorado National Parks. It is set this July.

Now, I am in panic mode and having second, third and tenth thoughts!!! Why?

1. I have not been to any camping trips here in the USA.
2. It would have been easy, safer and  comfortable if I will be with a Filipino, any Filipino, stranger, friend, co-teacher, just a Filipino.
3. I do not know what is in store for me!
4. I am not even teaching Geology class! Will I be able to pull this off?
5. I will only have showers every other day!
6. I do not know who the other students will be!
7. I will miss my family- that is 10 days non-stop of travel, hiking and camping.
8. It'll be 10 days of nose-bleed!!!! OMG!
9. It'll be rainy in the afternoons in July! I'll get wet!!!
10. I am thinking of dropping the course really!!!

I am in real panic mode. FEAR. I fear right?

Instead of looking at a great opportunity to learn, travel to beautiful national parks and learn about rock layers and layering and insights to the history of the earth!

Enjoy the stars in the darkness of the night, sleep in sleeping bags and share a tent with a person I do not know for 10 days!

Eat, walk, study, sleep and enjoy it with a group of students not my race! Savor God's creation and nature and welcome life's adventure and experience more!

I'm totally NOT focusing on the positives instead, I am getting apprehensive about all this!!!

Deep breath! Either I take it this year or not, I'll still need to take this course no matter what, since it is a prerequisite course! Oh my!

Where art thou my adventurous self go?

Should I go for it or back out?

-day 155

Being "LIKED" in the Workplace.

Older Woman: "Come here, I have to tell you something..."
Me: "What is?"
Older Woman: "You know, he is not liked. Nobody likes him." (referring to one of the bosses)
Me: "Mmmm..."
Older Woman: "Yeah, like 5 people told me that!"
Me: "Mmmm.."
Older Woman: "You don't know right? because nobody tells you, but I am telling you because I like you.. and you need to be wary..."

Is being "liked" in the workplace important?

I am not really into "people should like me" thing. In the workplace, as long as I do my work and do my work well, then that is fine. How I deal with people, though, also matters - nope, it matters a lot!

I know I won't be able to please all, and for sure the one (boss) being mentioned, knows that too!

He is simply doing his work, and he is doing his work well. He may not be liked because he wants things done and some people doesn't like that.

Some doesn't want to be bossed around because they thought they are their own bosses too; some wouldn't want to follow his lead, because they thought they know better. Some are just lazy too, and if they get reprimanded, they would make things personal.

Well, I guess, it doesn't really matter what world you live in, 1st world or 3rd world, people are just the same.

We may ALL need to review our Work Ethics again.

Soldier's Mom

Written by: Jerry Garcia

MOTHER'S DAY

Ancient mother, in her cushioned chair,
sits by the fireplace with a distant stare.

Swirling smoke forms columns of dreams,
memories of what had once been.

Amid the haze and fire he appears,
just as he was back so many years.

A soldier- he was, brave and strong,
killed by a bullet from the Viet Cong.

In a place faw away, he had gone,
a mountain top, with a name Khe Sahn.

A battle that lasted months they say...
after winning, we just turned and gave it away.

Actions such as these common to war,
guided by men with silver stars.

Tears now flow. A price that's paid,
as she reads his card from second grade.

Jessica and Filipinos

Tuesday night was like Pacquiao (the world boxing champion) night!

Filipino friends shared potluck and gathered to watch Jessica Sanchez and Philip Philips compete for the final showdown in American Idol Season 11.

We loved Jessica's songs, and even if the third song written for her wasn't loved by the judges- we still, of course, no doubt, voted for her! - via online and phone call! - too many times!

Philip may have rendered a beautiful "Home" song, but still, to a Filipino's heart - it is still Jessica!

If Filipinos unite, Filipinos can make wonders and miracles! I believe that.

WGWG may have all the white fans and may have been given a winning song this season, but we, Filipinos are keeping the faith.

We want Jessica to win!

Today, the answer will be revealed.

Let's keep our fingers crossed! :)

------------------------

Over and done with. The WGWG won as usual "American" idol, not Asian- American idol. Lol!

I play SOCCER (Part 2) :)

I played defense last Sunday, our last game for the Gallup Adult Soccer - all Women's Team Spring 2012 season, and for the first time we won! 4-1 Wooohooo!

With all the body aches and heart pounding runs, I've learned a lot about soccer and playing per se.

Show up
         Own the game!
           Create memories
            Corner the ball :)
               Enliven your spirit!
                 Request for sub! Lol!

Playing soccer was actually a good follow up on my 90-day challenge!
I look forward to playing again next year! :))

My Brothers!

I am the eldest of three. I only have two brothers, both younger than me.
I left the Philippines in 2007 to work here in the USA.

Bottom line, both my brothers got married, and I missed it!!!

Guess, I can't have it all, just yet. Missing the most important part of their lives is just one of the prices I have to pay for choosing to migrate :(

Nonetheless, I am happy for both of them.
I was once the only girl in the family.

Now, I have sisters! :))

Give and Receive!

I was chatting with a friend. He just received his much-awaited green card/ permanent residency and has been blessed abundantly. While sharing he said, just tithe. Don't forget to give 10% to God, and He will give you so much more!

He quoted Malachai 3:8-10

"Give your 10% increase to the Lord because that belongs to Him,, If you do that I will open the doors of Heaven to pour all the blessings and fill up your barns more than you expect- declares the LORD."

Try Reflexology!

Reflexology
Maybe, if I didn't study Reflexology six years ago, Mimoi, my youngest wouldn't be born!(Mymy, my eldest, is 4 years older.)

It was with all the pressing and applying of pressure that surely triggered it! (As we memorized the chart, we all practiced by giving our classmates free reflexology- everyday for a month, if I remembered right!)

It was a good summer, and after a month, I found myself pregnant!!! (thanks to Reflexology!)

Reflexology or zone therapy is a popular alternative therapy and natural art or way of healing. Some may not believe in its power but I say there's nothing to lose. I think it actually helps in reducing tension,  stress and pains, and encourages the body to its natural overall healing.

You may also do it on your own, or ask your spouse to help you apply pressure to certain areas of the hand, feet or face that according to the beliefs of the practitioners correspond with organ in the "zones" of the body.

Here's are guides for hands, feet and face.

Forget about the HOW!

Unexpectedly my post THE CURSED HOW, written on January 8, 2012 has gotten over 2,500 views!!!

I say A W E S O M E!

How did it happen?

Was it magic? Was it a miracle? Was it meant to be? Was it my doing? Was it planned? Was I able to attract it?

2558 View count

Maybe the formula really works:

INTENTION  100% + Mechanism (How)  0% = RESULTS  100%

If the intention is clear, the mechanism (how) will appear.

Somehow, we just need to believe that our RESULTS are ALL in our intention, our belief, our thoughts!

Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking. - Marcus Aurelius

But, however, technology tricked it I thank Google for making the 2,000+++ views happen for this timely post!

I am deeply grateful to all readers for following MY DAILIES.

I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again. Stephen Grellet

Let's forget about the HOW,

and make our intentions clear! We are guided and blessed!

To God be the Glory!

There's no way I can ever go,
  No, no, no, no way,
No, no, no, no way I'm livin' without you.
  I'm not livin' without you.
I don't want to be free.

Ooh, you're gonna love me.

And I am telling you I'm not going,
Even though the rough times are showing.
There's just no way,
There's no way.
We're part of the same place.
We're part of the same time.
We both share the same blood.
We both have the same mind.
And time and time we have so much to share,

No, no, no, No, no, no,
I'm not wakin' up tomorrow mornin'
And findin' that there's nobody there.
Darling, there's no way, No, no, no, no way I'm livin' without you.
I'm not livin' without you. You see, there's just no way,
There's no way.

Please don't go
Away from me
Stay with me,stay with me
Stay, stay and hold me
Stay, stay and hold me
Oh please stay and hold me miss me
Try and miss me Try and miss me Oh i know, i know,
i know you care

Tear down the mountains,
Yell, scream and shout.
You can say what you want, I'm not walkin' out.
Stop all the rivers, Push, strike, and kill.
I'm not gonna leave you, There's no way I will.

And I am telling you I'm not going.
You're the best man I'll ever know.
There's no way I could ever, ever go,
No, no, no, no way, No, no, no, no way I'm livin' without you.
Oh, I'm not livin' without you, I'm not livin' without you.
  I don't wanna be free.
I'm stayin', I'm stayin', And you, and you, and you
You're gonna love me. Oh, yeah, you're gonna love me,
Yes, you are, love me, Ooh, ooh, ooh, love me,

Mimoi joins Gallup Little League!

Tee ball or t-ball is like baseball for kids ages 3-4 and 5-6.

According to Wikipedia, in t-ball, the pitcher is usually used for defensive purposes only. The ball is placed on an adjustable tee atop (see photo below) the home plate at a suitable height for the batter to strike. Score is not kept and rules are designed to maximize participation: an inning is completed once each child has had a turn at bat and all extra players of the defensive team play in the outfield every inning.

To encourage the defensive team to try to make plays, there are typically no extra bases on overthrows and runners may not advance after the ball is in possession of an infielder.

Last April 29, 2012 the Tee ball Opening Day Ceremonies was held at the Ford Canyon Park, Mickey Mantle Field, Gallup, New Mexico.

It was well attended, parents were busy taking pictures and videos, kids were all in uniform, excited and had the time of their lives!

On Friends and Attachments

Loving people means giving them the freedom to be who they choose to be and where they choose to be.

Love is allowing people to be in your life out of choice. Again, we're talking detachment.

To HAVE something or someone, you LET GO.

Kid's Morning Prayers

I drive my kids and a friend's daughter to school.

As soon as I start the car, we'd pray. It has become a habit already. I'd start the prayer and then they would one by one, say their prayers too.

My youngest would always say, "God bless the trees, God bless the houses, God bless the sun, the moon, the cars..."

My eldest would say, "God help us do good in school, bless the sick people in the hospitals so they would get well.."

A friend's daughter would pray differently every time, she'd pray about China, the floods, bad people...

and then we'd all say AMEN.

It is a good morning habit. It also prompts the kids to be grateful and constantly be aware of God's goodness in our lives.

It is a joy to be with kids and hear them speak their minds. It is a pleasure to listen to them praising God and thanking God for all the beautiful things that He has done for us.

In our own little ways, let us continue to spread God's love through our words, actions and silence. As we aim to be better persons, let us continue to be patient and forgiving for the many times we have failed to be loving.

Let the children be our inspiration, their innocence and purity of hearts, we can always emulate.
